Nike is almost an obvious choice when you’re looking to buy shoes. The fashionable, comfortable and yet practical designs, in addition to the latest technological advancements that Nike uses for every model, make Nike shoes perfect for athletes and non-athletes alike. Models like Nike Air Jordan I have reached an almost legendary status among sports shoes, collectors offering even sums exceeding of a thousand dollars for a pair.

Nike is held with the utmost respect by sports institutions around the world, sponsoring a wide variety of sportsmen like successful tennis players James Blake, Jim Courier, Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport and many more. Also many soccer teams promote Nike around the world, among the most notable we can name national teams like Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, the United States National Team and soccer clubs like Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Steaua Bucharest, Inter Milan, Aston Villa, Celtic Glasgow, Corinthians, Juventus Turin, Arsenal and Dundee United. Probably the most valued collaboration was the one with Basketball super star Michael Jordan that lasted from 1984 throughout his career.

One of the leading models of Nike shoes is the Nike Shox, a model with an air cushion built in the base of the shoe for maximum comfort and a rubber outsole for quick movements around the court. Another notable example would be the Jordan AJF 8, model equipped with an upper leather mesh and quilted stitching that allows the foot to breathe and also a leather wrapped outsole for traction and extreme durability. In addition to shoes and sports kits Nike also offers a great variety of sportswear and casual wear items with products ranging from hoodies, jumpers, t-shirts, socks, sports jackets to footballs, rings, watches and hair bands.

Bill Bowerman and Phillip Knight founded the company in 1964 under the name of Blue Ribbon Sports, it officially took the title of Nike in 1978, taking its name from the Greek goddess of victory. The world famous Nike logo was purchased from a student called Carolyn Davidson in 1971 for just 35 USD and is now one of the most recognized symbols in the world.
